    I just watched this (I’ve seen other projects before, and people spend so much money on those one day bathroom transformations, and end up with a plastic-looking bathroom for at least 5 times the amount of money for something that doesn’t at all compare to the results of your epoxy, and it’s just too bad because it’s and such a versatile product! I wanted to mention a couple of things that might be of interest as an option to the final product, especially to those who have to create a brand new shower/ bath to shower conversion. I had a very old colonial house about 20 years ago and the house had only one full bathroom on the first floor that desperately needed a complete remodel, but more importantly, it needed a bathroom on the second floor period, it had all of the bedrooms and zero bathrooms. I was convinced we had enough room to put a couple of closets together, and it is too bad we didn’t have this product back then! We absolutely did have a solution, and that solution was to use shower doors that slide side to side instead of opening the door in the traditional open-motion way, which would have most definitely prevented us from having a shower altogether, and we definitely didn’t want a Mickey-mouse shower looking corner thing. Even though we used traditional tile, the solution would be viable for any material used! Our other “easy” solution was to use tile all the way throughout instead of just up to a certain height/etc. , including the ceiling. We used light-colored neutral marble tile that was very inexpensive, and nobody was doing this. The final bathroom looked absolutely incredible, and we didn’t have to deal with any paint. The entire bathroom used the same tile, no special backsplashes, just uniform (it had some light grey marbling- and of course if you’re creating your custom panels, you have so much more versatility with making it look the way you want to, but I just wanted to add that KISS works with designs, too- looking back on it, it would have been gaudy looking if we tried to complicate a very simple design with all these lines breaking up a streamlined look. I stopped by the house around 10 years ago and talked to the new family who bought the house from us, and they said the bathroom was the reason they bought the house in the first place. We bought and sold that house for less than $300k in the early 2000s, and it’s worth $650k now. And now I’m watching your beautiful craft and thinking how many homes you are helping to build their value! Thank you for your talent, craft, and dedication!

    Why did you add two coats of the white underlayment and two coats of black underlayment.

    • @sjscovington
      @sjscovington День тому

      The white coats were the bonding primer coats. The black coats were the undercoats. You need the bonding primer to ensure that the subsequent coats cling to the smooth surface of the original countertop surface. The black undercoats help the epoxy coat to cling to the counter surface.

    • @mitchquist
      @mitchquist 22 години тому

      Great question! The two transparent white coats I applied first was our bonding primer we sell designed for slick surfaces like old countertops. It creates a chemical bond for adhesion. Next was our black undercoat which is a paint designed for epoxy projects. Let me know if u have any other questions

    I refinish bathtubs and countertops for over 24 years, and this is looking easier for countertops until it comes to tile and cutting off the backsplash on some of these countertops. He cuts out the part where he had to remove the sink, which involves plumbing. You start messing with plumbing, and you risk more going wrong.

      Speedcure is designed for earth tone and darker colored finishes for experienced DIYers and pros that want the job done quicker. We have a brand new product coming soon designed for white and light colored finishes that will never yellow. Platinum is a product we had that had bonding issues when you did a clear coat over it with the same product. Speedcure isn't designed for outdoor use, our new product will be. Nice! Love the colors! Excited about the fact that you can literally sand and flood or top-coat in 4 hours. I've flooded in 4, 5 and 6 hours using regular epoxies and art coats without sanding for certain designs but some designs that I've done require sanding that had to be done next day therefore I had to flood the following day. This is great news! Definitely will be tryin this product out soon. I still have a lil epoxy on hand.

    Hi, Thanks for your great instructional videos. I am a bit confused, in this video and many other of your videos you mix a few gallons of epoxy at the same time. I have bought the same Art Coat epoxy from you that you use in the video, but on the bottles it says that I shouldn’t mix more than one gallon maximum at the time. I need to mix more, and since I will be doing my project by my self I prefer to mix more at once to give my self more working time. So my question is can I mix more than one gallon at the time?

    Such beautiful wood grains, who paints such furniture in the first place BUT when the paint is stripped off, one can clearly see why it was painted in the first place. PLEASE HANDLE WOOD WITH GRAINS SMARTLY, MATCHING THIE GRAIN DIRECTION, WOOD COLOUR ETC. PROPERLY. If wood is being used, it should advertise its grains. Its better to use PVC etc. If it has to be painted in the end. Why waste wood!!!!!!!!!😊
